6-Monthly Meeting, November 2020

Date

Our 6-Monthly Meeting was held virtually over three afternoons on 9, 10 and 11 November.  We were pleased to be joined by a large number of the Project Members from the USA, Denmark and across the United Kingdom.

During the three days we heard some informative, detailed presentations and discussions on each Task Annex.  Each day was rounded off with a social event.

Our first social event was a general knowledge quiz held on Monday and was organised by Ian Ford.  Armed with our long-term memory brain cells - fortunately yet to be impaired by the gin-tasting session on Tuesday - sixteen individuals divided into four teams, tackled six rounds of questions ranging from the name of the UK Chief Scientific Advisor to the identity of Ermintrude in the Magic Roundabout.  It was the team in Zoom Room 3, consisting of Colin, Johanna, Yi-Yeoun and Cedrick, that nudged ahead in the final 'smorgasbord' round to receive the glory of the win and the acclaim of their peers.

Tuesday’s social event was a Distilled History of Gin Virtual Experience organised by Caroline Carr.  Having received their pre-delivered gin tasting box, the 27 enthusiastic participants prepared for the pre-tasting ‘ginformation’.  Garnishes, ice and chilled drinks at the ready, the 90-minute Zoom event began, led by the two Co-founders of Madam Geneva and Gent who provided a history of gin followed by the tasting.

The three days were rounded off with a Poem and Lyric Writing Competition organised by Rik Drummond-Brydson.  The poems can be found on our Events page at this link
