Dr Aaron Finney

Position
Postdoctoral Research Assistant
Location
University College London

Aaron worked with Professor Matteo Salvalaglio in Chemical Engineering at UCL until September 2023, when he took up a position at the University of Liverpool.  His research involves the development of novel atomic simulation methods to study solid/solution interfaces.  Working alongside experimental colleagues on the project, the research will provide high resolution mechanistic information about how interfacial chemistries can control nucleation and growth.

Aaron obtained his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Warwick in 2015 where he researched the nucleation and crystallisation of calcium carbonate at early stages.  Previously, he has worked at the University of Sheffield, focussing on the thermodynamics and mechanisms of ion complexation in solution and at interfaces.  Aaron has organised conferences on simulations of nucleation and growth, with a focus on developing tools to address challenges in this area.
