Marlene is PhD student and research assistant in Prof Pat Unwin’s group. She has a research background in neuroscience and scanning electrochemical probe microscopy techniques. In her most recent project, she focuses on investigating the effect of surface potential on crystallisation processes on self-assembled monolayer (SAM)-modified gold substrates. She employs a dual barrel micropipette probe in combination with an optical method, specifically interference reflectance microscopy, to observe crystal growth in situ and in real-time.
