Professor Ian Ford

Position
Co-Investigator
Location
University College London

Ian Ford is based in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at UCL and has assumed some of the Co-Investigator duties of Dorothy Duffy who recently retired.  He has an extensive record of theoretical research into the nucleation and growth of new phases, particularly droplet formation from the vapour and crystallites from the molten state.  Techniques used include molecular dynamics modelling as well as free energy computation according to various coarse grained approximations, and he has a broad interest in the thermodynamics of irreversible processes.
